Tondabayashi Jinai-machi was born in the mid-16th century, formed around Kousho-ji Betsuin Temple.
It was developed as a commercial district where many merchant houses stood side by side. Some town houses built in the
17th to 18th century still remain such as Kyuu Sugiyamake Juutaku (Former Residence of Sugiyama Family) and
Kousho-ji Betsuin Temple which are National Important Cultural Properties.
The area was designated as the only Nation's "Preservation District for Groups of Historic Buildings" in Osaka in 1997.
Recently, many fascinating stores and galleries can be found throughout the area.
We’re sure you will find a place that captures your heart.
Facilities in "Tomari-ya"
The "Tomari-ya" building is an old folk house built over 100 years ago.
In order to conserve the traditional beauty of this building, we have tried to make as few renovations to it as possible.
The layout of the house is almost the same as it was when it was built, so there are no private rooms.
Because of that, however, friendly interactions between guests are more likely to take place, we believe.
We hope "Tomari-ya" will be like a home away from home for travelers.
Here guests (a maximum of 5 people per day) can share the closeness of family with us.
We can’t say it is as comfortable as modern architecture,
but we hope you will fully enjoy staying in a good old traditional Japanese house.
*It is not fully soundproofed since it is an old folk house built over 100 years ago. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
(We are ready to offer earplugs just in case.)
